I HEAR on the radio that we need more runways and space for aircraft. We have a lovely little airfield on the edge of Pershore that's doing nothing in particular.
It would be more than suitable for light private aircraft and short-haul inter-city UK flights. The runway has a few weeds and the concrete may need a bit of attention, but it would ease a lot of the space problem at Birmingham Airport.
Apart from a transport company and some light engineering, it's virtually deserted and "ready to go". Also, it would bring some much-needed extra trade to the area.
Honeybourne and Defford are also in our area, but these are too highly developed to be viable.
Personally, I would prefer a small airfield with weekend private flights and occasional daytime light aircraft, to the crazy, unsuitable suggestions for Throckmorton that seem to be around at present.
STANLEY D PARR,
Pershore.
