FARMERS and growers may soon be given the opportunity to set up market stalls in the gardens of an historic Evesham pub.
Regular farmers' market are planned at the Fleece Inn, in Bretforton, where anyone can sell their own grown, caught or processed produce.
Landlord Peter Clarke said he used a lot of local produce at the Fleece Inn and he is now encouraging villagers to follow suit and buy from small, independent suppliers wherever possible.
"It's too early to tell when the market will take place, but it may be once a month," he said.
"It depends on how many people show an interest and if we can negotiate some more parking spaces in the village.
"We aim to provide a valuable forum for local farmers so that the public can be confident of the origins of their food and ask questions about the methods of production.
"Not only will customers get freshly prepared, organic produce, but the markets will promote the work of the farming industry, which has suffered so much recently.
"By working with local producers and cutting out the middlemen, we aim to ensure they receive a fair price and are able to improve their businesses."
