WHILE Mr Griffiths rightly observes that the European Union and the Third Reich are not identical, there are important parallels.
Hitler intended to introduce a single currency and a new economic order and planned a programme of regionalisation almost identical to that of Brussels programme of devolution.
If the EU is "peaceful" as Mr Griffiths claims, why is it seeking its own armed forces? And if it is only an "association" of nations, why does it need a flag and anthem?
The member states of the EU may be nominal democracies, but the multitudinous layers of bureaucratic hierarchy that organises it is an oligarchy for sure.
Like Nazi Germany, the EU represents the power of bureaucracy over the individual.
