A WORCESTERSHIRE construction company is celebrating a record three months, having secured £20m in orders since the start of the financial year on April 1.

Thomas Vale Construction, of Stourport-on-Severn, is now on track to achieve a turnover of £60m this year, with a current order book of £40m. Projects include a new £3.5m teaching block at Cannock College, accommodation for defence estates worth £1.3m and a range of industrial and commercial schemes.

Housing-based schemes amount to more than £4m, including a purpose-built care home in Bromsgrove.

Managing director Tony Hyde said much of the work was through long term arrangements with repeat business clients.

"The whole Midlands, and in particular Birmingham, is very buoyant, hopefully for the foreseeable future. However we are looking for sustained long term growth of our business rather than boom/bust cycles."

He said the new contracts would create additional employment at the company's Stourport Aston and Birmingham, offices, in addition to providing work for around 250 local tradesmen and sub-contractors.
