HARDMAN Kingsley Jones has warned sides not to come looking for trouble at Sixways this season after Worcester Rugby Club's National One opener was marred by punch-ups and a serious injury to Duncan Roke.

Manchester went home licking their wounds in more ways than one on Saturday after a 45-11 defeat in a game featuring a 10-man brawl and a number of fights.

Roke was stretchered off to hospital following a dreadful head-high tackle mid-way through the second half.

And skipper Jones has underlined that if the rest of National One feel Worcester are soft touches, they are in for a surprise.

"Don't get me wrong -- we do not want to see fighting on the pitch that is just nonsense," he said. "However, I hope that people don't think they can come down to Worcester and think they can rough us up because I'll fight as good as the next man if that's what it comes down to.

"If they think that we're internationals who can't fight then they are in for a surprise. It's something I'd like to get over to the rest of the teams in the league.

"I've been brought up in the Welsh valleys. I had to fight every day of my life at school so it's not a problem."

New signing Roke, who had only come on as a replacement two minutes earlier, was knocked unconscious by an appalling high tackle by Afi Leulia, and will now be ruled out of action for at least three weeks because of the concussion.

Jones felt Leulia's tackle deserved at least a yellow card, a point backed up by the Worcester crowd who slated referee Trevor Fisher throughout the game.

"He caught Duncan straight across his chin which will spark you out. I am the last person to want someone sent off but it was dangerous and high."

The 31-year-old was delighted though with the result if not the performance which saw Worcester race into a 31-0 lead after just 24 minutes.

Man of the match Chris Garrard bagged four superb tries, while fellow winger Winston Stanley was also on the mark along with a debut score for Jones himself.
