JOHN Brain's injury problems are mounting after Alistair Murdoch was ruled out for up to four weeks.
Last year's Sixways skipper suffered a rib injury in training and will now miss Worcester Rugby Club's National One opener with Manchester on September 1.
The Australian winger is facing a race against time to be fit for games against Birmingham and Henley as the injury worries continue for head coach Brain before tomorrow's final pre-season test at Sale Sharks.
Craig Chalmers' knee problem rules the Scottish fly-half out of the friendly while fellow number 10 Tony Yapp is also absent after twisting his knee.
Duncan Roke, who played at stand-off during the friendly with Clontarf, has also picked up a heel injury and is not included in the squad.
"Murdoch will be out for two to four weeks," said Brain. "He popped a rib in training -- it's just one of those things that happen."
Academy stars John Higgins and Dan Cullen will be given the chance to shine at outside-half tomorrow.
Brain, however, has been boosted with the return of Canadian star Winston Stanley after a leg injury.
British Lion Jason Robinson will be among the Sale stars lining up against the Gold 'n Blues.
