AFTER leaking seven goals in two games, Worcester City's defence will be desperate to plug any gaps in tomorrow's Dr Martens League Premier Division clash at Ilkeston Town (3pm).

But City boss, John Barton, refuses to push any panic buttons as his side seeks to chalk up their first win of the campaign.

Indeed if they had managed to convert just half of the clear-cut chances they created in their opening matches then Worcester could have been going into the game looking for their third win rather than their first.

Stereotypical

Barton saw the Robins draw 2-2 at Stafford Rangers earlier this week and billed them as a stereotypical Dr Martens side.

"They looked useful and certainly should have won the game on Monday," he said.

"They've got a couple of points from their opening matches and have a couple of good players that could win the game."

Barton was furious with his side's defending after City's 4-1 defeat at Kettering Town in midweek but admitted pre-season injuries had restricted his choices and upset the balance of the side.

"By and large we probably have an imbalance and some players are in positions they are not naturally happy with," he said.

"In some cases they're also trying to play games, win them, achieve a good performance as well as the result and on top of that are trying to get up to match fitness level.

"Paul Carty, Nathan Jukes, Jamie Hyde have all missed a lot of pre-season and Ian Cottrill is still out.

"Mark Owen has also missed part of pre-season."

But he added: "It is important not to panic. We're disappointed with the results and not happy to have conceded seven goals.

"Normally we're good defensively but we've switched at the moment where we're letting in goals but creating lots of chances.

"In the two games we've have 12 very good chances."

One man looking forward to visiting the New Manor Ground is Owen who scored twice in a 4-2 win there last season -- his first goals of that campaign.

This time round he already has four goals to his name, with a hat-trick against Weymouth and one at Kettering.
