INJURY doubts surround strikers Mark Owen and Mark Shepherd ahead of Worcester City's friendly clash at Sutton Coldfield Town tonight.

The duo limped off within 20 minutes of the start of Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Atherstone United.

City boss John Barton said Owen (hamstring) and Shep-herd (groin) are unlikely to start with defender Nathan Jukes (groin) also doubtful.

Midfielder Paul Carty, who picked up an injury in City's 3-1 win at home to Coventry City, will also be missing tonight.

"It is hard to go through pre-season without picking up some sort of injuries," admitted Barton.

"I'll know a little bit more on Owen and Shepherd later today but I think it is unlikely they will play."

Barton was pleased to back in the dugout after missing City's first two friendlies as he was on holiday, but was disappointed with Saturday's performance at Sheepy Road.

"With the injuries and changes we had to make it wasn't comfortable for us," he said.

"Andy Ellis was having his first game and we finished with Ray Woods up front and Lee Goodman who gave a decent account of himself.

"Atherstone got a free-kick early on but after that there was nothing in the game.

"It was nice to be back but it was a disappointing fixture and I didn't take any positives from the game although having said that it was a pre-season game and part of that is to iron out any problems.

"Atherstone has a difficult surface and atmosphere but this is the kind of place we have to visit and get something from during the season."

On Thursday the club holds its annual open day at St George's Lane from 4-8pm.

Events on the evening will include football skills sessions with the first team squad, photo opportunities with the Dr Martens Cup, tours of the ground, beat the keeper plus other attractions and refreshments.

City's next home friendly is against Wolves next Monday (August 6).
