DROITWICH'S 15-year-old Edward Moffett scored a home victory at the Worcestershire Hunt Pony Club one-day event, held over a new cross-country course at Himbleton.

Edward headed a novice section on his pure-bred Connemara pony Milo II, who his family bought in Ireland two years ago when the pony had 'done nothing.'. The pair lay second after dressage, just two marks behind the leader, and came through to win after jumping clear cross country and show jumping.

Edward also won the 3' section at the Malvern Pony Club's one-day event at Hilltop recently, to prove his consistency and the teenager is a pupil at Alcester Grammar School.

His club mate Natalie Woffard, granddaughter of former international show jumper Dawn Woffard (nee Palethorpe), finished second to him at the Himbleton event.

The Bradley Green 16 year old was at her first ever competition with her new horse By Chance, bred locally by Mrs Sheila Gibbs.

Thirteen year old Lucinda Eaton, a pupil at St. James School in Malvern, headed an open section on Millbrook Ifor. The North Cotswold Pony Club rider has taken the pony over from older sister Harriet, who rode him on the British team at the Pony European 3 day event Championships. The paid also won the 3'6" class at the Avon Vale Pony Club event, staged in Wiltshire recently.

Home club rider Zophia Amey, finished second in a junior section, on what was her 13th birthday. The Ham Green rider, a pupil at Alice Ottley School, rode the six year old pony Basford Son & Heir. Zophia was also a member of the Worcestershire PC team that finished second at the Allbrighton Woodland Pony Club show-jumping and will be riding for the club at the area qualifiers.

At Himbleton she went on to second in the 3'3" section won by Lucinda Eaton, on her second ride French Mustard, a nine-year-old bright bay pony who she has been riding for just under year.

Alexandra Smith-Maxwell finished fifth to Lucinda and Zophia in the 3'3" section, riding Shannon. Other local riders to make the line-up included Alvechurch's Sarah Lewis, third in a junior section on her Connemara pony Streamstown Mikey.

Clifton-on-Teme PC's Natalie Jeffries picked up a fifth on Empress of Canada and Worcester RC's trio Karen Richardson, Susanne Frank and Liz Holliday were third and equal fourth in a novice section on Highland Brave, No Obligation and Southmead Sarah. Their club-mate Jane Blackband was sixth in her novice section on Minstrel, where Alvechurch RC's Jayne Summers was third on Monty's Law and Malvern Hills RC's Michelle Grundy was fifth on Blakey Lad.
