THERE were delighted smiles all round when a group of talented tap dancers stars from Droitwich Spa scored a perfect set of marks in their latest exam.

The legs-eleven team, who attend Vonya Carlton School of Dance, all achieved grade A results in the level two tap examination at Salwarpe Village Hall.

The exam, which saw dedicated dancers take part aged between 17 and 49, was set by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.

Teacher Vonya Carlton, who also teaches ballet and modern dancing, was astounded by the results.

She said: "It's a superb achievement, something I don't think I'll ever see again.

"They have shown tremendous commitment throughout their course and the examination result is a fair reflection of the work they have put in.

"I'm very proud of them all," added Vonya.

For several of the more mature dancers, the achievement is their first venture into the world of dance and they are now preparing for their next examination.

But the next big date in the dance calendar will be the school's show where the group will have the chance to put their undoubted talents on display.

Mum-of-two, Elaine Taylor, a member of the Spa dance school, said: "Adult tap is a great way to stay fit and have fun and for all of us to get straight A marks is just wonderful."
