MOTORSPORT: Kart racer Nathan Freke gained another big victory at the Three Sisters circuit in the nationally recognised Wigan Old Cup meeting.

Freke, Three Sisters club champion in the 125 gearbox class, was up against top drivers on a different circuit layout, including a 110mph blind hill.

Starting 20th in the first heat, a superb start and brave driving saw the Kidderminster teenager take second place on the last lap.

The second heat from grid seven saw another second place in a race full of yellow flags meaning no overtaking.

Starting on grid nine for his third race, Freke was in second place by the crest of the hill on the first lap and took the lead before extending his lead to more than 100 yards.

In pole position for the A final and a possible first Gold Cup win, Freke's usual excellent start took him into the lead and he was never challenged.

He left current and past British champions in his wake to secure the prestigious title by more than 100 yards.

Freke, who is still seeking sponsorship so he can compete in Europe next season, will race a long-circuit meeting at Silverstone at the weekend.
