A STOURPORT schoolteacher was conned by a man who offered to block pave her drive, Worcester Crown Court was told.
She handed over £250 to Roody Smith after he took up some slabs but he never returned to complete the job, said Alex Warren, prosecuting.
Smith, 23, of Trimpley Lane, Shatterford, pleaded guilty to obtaining money by deception.
He was jailed for 27 months after admitting another similar charge and three charges of theft.
The similar charge involved carrying out block paving for an 89-year-old man in Stourport. Smith was paid £1,300 but also acquired another cheque from the man's book.
The cheque was for £4,000, which he paid into his account, but claimed he did not know its origin.
