COMMONWEALTH Games gold medallist Simon Archer steps up his bid for treble glory today in Manchester.
The Worcester badminton ace, who claimed a team gold for England this week, won through to the last 32 with James Anderson in the men's doubles and reached the last 16 with Jo Goode in the mixed doubles with victories over Indian pairs.
Archer and Anderson beat Markes Bristow and Sachin Ratti 3-0 (7-1, 7-2, 7-1) while the former Olympic bronze duo defeated Nikhail Kanetkar and Trupti Murgunde 3-0 (7-0, 7-2, 7-0).
