FOLLOWING a harrowing time at the hands of likely champions Broadstreet last week, Malvern RFC are looking to put their Midlands One season back on keel at Spring Lane tomorrow (Saturday) against Walsall.

Kim Withnall comes in at prop in place of James Daniell, who is on the bench, whilst winger Ben Hughes has his first start for some months following injury. Lock forward Jon Owen, also back from injury, joins Daniell and Dave Beech on the bench, whilst Ollie Banwell takes over from Steve Taylor.

Taylor, who was sent off against Broadstreet for the first time in his career, has been suspended by the club awaiting his hearing by the North Midlands disciplinary panel.

David Robins, director of rugby, said: "Given that this was Steve's first-ever red card, and the fact that he had no previous yellow card or verbal warning, we hope that the panel will take the view that a club suspension will be sufficient.

"Vince Hill will continue to play, despite his red card, as we feel we have a case. The opposing hooker, who had already been sin-binned, started the incident, and whilst Vince retaliated, he had not been warned. Also, he was attacked by at least four opposition players without other provocation, so we will be appealing against the sending-off."

Referring to the Walsall match, Robins was looking for his players to bounce back.

He said: "We contested well in the loose for much of last week's game. Walsall play an open game, as evidenced by the high scoring match at their ground. Our tactics will change accordingly, and training will reflect this."
