WITH only weeks to go to the start of the new rugby season, the Malvern RFC Youth Development Section has unveiled a range of packages that it hopes will entice local businesses to support junior rugby development in the Malvern Hills District.

Potential sponsors will be given a number of options in which they can show their support, ranging from a kit bag of rugby balls from £40 to a full playing kit for one of the ten youth teams run by the club for £1,200. A deal that will run for at least two seasons.

Unlike junior soccer teams, who organise fixtures on a local basis, the Malvern youth rugby squads travel far and wide for matches and this causes an additional financial burden for the club which had 214 children on its books last season.

Gary Tolley, chairman of youth rugby at the Malvern club said: "Running ten youth teams for 34 weeks of the year is a costly business and with the children's annual subscription as our only source of regular income assistance from donors from outside the club is welcomed."

Details of the sponsorship package can be obtained from David Robins on (01684) 560247 or from the MRFC Clubhouse Office, Spring Lane, Malvern Link, WR14 1AJ.
