IT was Leon Botha's day once again when Pershore played Kidderminster in a Worcestershire Clubs League fixture on Sunday.

Skipper Lee Wilks lost the toss and his young side was asked to field in blazing conditions when it was apparent that high scores would be the order of the day on the tiny second XI ground at Chester Road.

The Kidderminster innings was built around Wood (107) and Hill (57) who added 125 for the third wicket. The remaining batsmen were never able to accelerate the scoring and accurate bowling in the last ten overs, especially by Rich Pearman who took four wickets, kept the Kidderminster score down to 236-6 from their allotted 45 overs.

From the first ball, it was apparent that Botha was going to find the short boundaries to his liking and, after an opening stand of 112 with Sam Howell (29) he cut loose to such an extent that Pershore scored at six runs an over for the first 30 overs.

Pershore passed the Kidderminster score with just over three overs to spare, Botha finishing on 159 not out. His second 50 came from 25 balls in 33 minutes and his total innings came from 108 balls and contained nine fours and seven sixes.

Pershore travelled to Ombersley on Saturday in a County Division One match and came away with a well-deserved draw in a high scoring game.

Skipper Trevor Ridings asked the home side to bat and with the score at 59-3 from 20 overs, his decision looked correct, but he reckoned without Martin Yardley who added 96 with Joph Young (57) and 61 with Nick Dale-Lace (38 no).

Yardley ended with 101 from just 98 balls and helped Ombersley to 256 from their 55 overs which should have been a match-winning score.

Pershore faced an ultra-defensive field from the outset and managed only 100 from their first 30 overs.

With Stephen Cooper (78) playing a holding role, Lee Wilks (46) pushed the score along so Pershore needed 80 from the last 10 overs for victory. The loss of Cooper and Wilks changed the situation and the visitors, as Ombersley put the pressure on in the last four overs, eventually held out for a draw.

Pershore 2nds beat Ombersley 2nds by four wickets. Chasing Ombersley's 145, Pershore were indebted to a career-best 83n.o. from Rob Handley.
