MATTHEW Mills won Broadway Golf Club's championship for the fourth year in succession.
Over 36 holes on the hottest day of the year, with near perfect greens, Mills carded an excellent gross 137, a brilliant 67 in the morning followed by gross 70 in the afternoon, to fend off a determined challenge from Steve Gilks and Jamie Storey who both finished on gross 143.
At one stage in the afternoon Gilks reduced the deficit to one shot but Mills held his nerve to finish in style and claim victory by a comfortable six-shot margin.
Jamie Storey, playing off a handicap of eight, emerged from the shadow of his twin brother Ben, with a superb gross 68 in the morning and a more steady 75 afternoon round, to win the Peter Ward putter with an overall best nett of 127. Second was Chris O'Hagan, another in-form junior, with 132.
Mills' next golfing engagement is a first appearance in the English Amateur Championship at Walton Heath.
