AN old dilapidated timber-frame building near the centre of Evesham is being transformed into new living accommodation.

The Wychavon Building Preservation Trust is converting 31 Cowl Street into new housing while maintaining the appearance of the ancient property.

"We are preserving the timber frame and the brickwork of the building," said trust member Don Fletcher.

The trust, set up with the help of Wychavon District Council, restores old buildings that otherwise might fall into decay.

The vacant plot next to the property will also be used to build Much-needed town centre housing will be built on the vacant plot next to the property, its style following that of No 31.

Mr Fletcher expects the restoration work to be completed by autumn this year.
