WORCESTER Nomads first XI continued their recovery from the lower end of the WCL Division Two with another good win, this time away to Cookley.

COOKLEY v WORCESTER NOMADS

The home side batted first and found runs difficult to come by in the face of excellent bowling from Jinks, Wooller and Griffiths. Only Australian De Vito looked relatively untroubled, on his way to 79, before being stumped by Dixon off Griffiths.

Cookley were reluctant to attack in their last 10 overs, particularly in the face of tight bowling from Jinks and the spin of Griffiths, scoring only 36 runs while losing five wickets. Griffiths bowled 17 consecutive overs, taking 4-53 and also had a catch and a run out. Jinks took another four wickets, continuing his run of form, for 59.

Nomads' reply was based on another fine innings from Simon Harris (73no) supported by two more younger players, Huw Dimond, a confident 31, and Blake Raymond (20).

When the winning runs were despatched, Nomads had made the target with 13.2 overs to spare.

WORCESTER NOMADS II v COOKLEY II

NOMADS Second XI's recent run of good form came to a disappointing halt, and they should have made a better fist of it.

Cookley were asked to bat first, and made 212-6, the same score Nomads had chased to beat Feckenham the previous week. Martin with 52 continued his recent run of good form, and found support from Holden with 41. Nomads bowling was tight if not convincing, and the target should have been within reach.

The home batsmen had other ideas however, with the top six contributing to their own downfall as they chased the runs. Pick of the batsmen was Glen Collins, going in at eight. Some fluent off-drives from him, supported by the latter order briefly gave a flicker of hope, but wickets fell too regularly and the points on offer for a losing draw proved the incentive as they hung on to the end.

For Cookley Anderson bowled unchanged, taking 6-101 from his 25 overs.
