Travis have had to pull out of their headlining gig at V2002 after drummer Neil Primrose struck his head and was knocked unconscious.

Due to Neil's spinal injury, the Chemical Brothers will be taking their place on August 17 and August 18 in Staffordshire and Chelmsford.

V2002 have also lined up a very special act to head up the NME stage, which is due to be announced soon.

"Due to Neil's accident earlier this month we have received confirmation from Travis management that sadly Travis will not be able to perform at V2002," said festival director, Bob Angus.

"We wish Neil well in his recovery.

"We have acted quickly to rework the bill to ensure that V-goers will still get a fantastic line up.

"We're looking forward to yet another successful V festival and can't wait to see everybody enjoying themselves."

Chemical Brothers will be bringing their Block Rocking Beats to the V mix, as they headline the V Stage at V2002.

Their fourth album, Come With Us steamed its way to the top of the album charts in January, spawning some major radio play for the likes of Star Guitar and the double A-side with the Richard Ashcroft collaboration, The Test.

And when you look at the calibre of the other artists, the Chems have worked with over the years you cannot help but be impressed... Beth Orton, Lionrock, Manic Street Preachers, Spiritualized and New Order, to name but a few.

Missy Elliot even gets a co-writing credit on Music:Response.
