I read with interest your report on the four-day camp by the Malvern Pony Club and their guests at the Three Counties Showground (Malvern Gazette, July 26).

The populace of Malvern Wells was also fully aware of every jump, stunt, tack clean and stable muck out - we heard the detailed commentary from the PA system relayed at high volume.

Why is it that the Triumph owners can meet quietly, the nearby steam fair succeed without undue noise, and the various horticultural shows pass without causing aggravation, and yet a few pony owners can cause such a nuisance?

It did not help that the mobile telephones of the showground staff were either switched off or not working, so making it difficult to complain at the time.

The solution is a simple principle - if an event really needs to use PA, then the volume should be such that no sound travels beyond the showground boundary. After all, that's what my neighbours expect of me.
