Coarse Fishing by Mansfield and Clifford (Foulsham, £5.99)
ONE of the problems with most books on fishing is that you can't take them with you on that waterside expedition.
The majority of guides are too big, too glossy and posh-smelling to drag along to the bank.
But not so with this neat little volume from Foulsham, which will fit into your pocket. A quick turn of the pages to check on the fish and relevant equipment, and then it can be safely returned while you tackle up.
This is a good example of writing to order, where the reader's need for instant information is easily satisfied, page after page. It's all there, from descriptions of the quarry species to the best methods with which to ensure a full keep-net.
Me? I fell for this piscean gem hook, line and sinker. Tight lines, folks.
