IT'S becoming exceedingly difficult to see the logic - if any - in Government statements about devolving more power to the local level.
How can this be so now that most district and county councils are made up of cabinets, thus reducing the representational capacity of councillors not on the executive committee to nil?
The Rural White Paper says its wants parish councillors to be responsible for more.
However, we do not yet know exactly what the remit of regional government will be and how that will affect what parish councils may be asked to do.
Offering local folk the opportunity of taking part in what amount to infantile games seems a very poor alternative to authentic central funding.
