Tewkesbury 119, Cam 111

TEWKESBURY kept up the pressure at the top of the county league with a hard-fought victory over Cam.

Asked to bat first on a dry wicket Tewkesbury struggled to score runs and lost wickets regularly. No-one dominated the bowling and a score of 119 was more than seemed likely when they slipped to 88-8.

Cam's batsmen found scoring equally difficult and with Tom Brown taking 4-24 they were soon in trouble.

Cam's Atkinson and Mears pulled it round for the home side and at 100-6 looked like pulling of a narrow victory.

However, with the reintroduction of Ben France and the spin of Raj Choudhuri, Cam lost four wickets for 11 eleven runs and gave Tewkesbury their ninth win of the season.

Tewkesbury's second team continue to dominate division two with another convincing win over Chalford. Clive Baker hit 49, Mark Hodson 31 and 14-year-old James Allcoat 42no in a total of 213.

Chalford had no answer to the Tewkesbury bowling attack and with Steve Bowers taking five wickets Chalford's innings ended at 129.
