FINAL plans for changes to the electoral wards in Worcestershire have been submitted to The Electoral Commission.

The recommendations from The Boundary Committee for England mark the end of a year-long review.

They include changes to ward boundaries across all the districts in the county.

"Our aim has been to ensure that, as far as possible, one person's vote should have the same value as another's," said committee chairman Coun Pamela Gordon.

In Worcester, the ward covering the city centre will become Cathedral ward, while the old Warndon area ward will be renamed as Warndon.

The proposals are for the number of wards to increase from 12 to 15, and the number of councillors to decrease from 36 to 35.

In Wychavon, the whole of Hanbury parish will be included in Inkberrow ward, while Dodderhill and Hanbury ward will be renamed as Dodderhill.

The final recommendations are for 45 councillors, down from 49, representing 32 wards, reduced from 36.

In Malvern Hills, a minor boundary change to Malvern Town has been proposed.

The committee also plans to adopt proposals for a two-member Wells ward, comprising Malvern Wells and Little Morton, and a single-member Morton ward covering Welland, Castlemorton and Birtsmorton.

There will be 38 councillors, reduced from 42, representing 22 wards, reduced from 27.
