IN response to the letter (You Say, July 25) from a Charles Nolda, I would like to make the following comment.
So Charles Nolda sees fit to threaten council staff with job losses if their pay claim is met. Apparently 3 per cent is a "fair and reasonable" offer.
Well, Mr Nolda, I am one of many council employees working for the museum service earning £4.96 per hour.
We do not feel that 3 per cent of £4.96 is either fair or reasonable. We are asking for 6 per cent that would still only bring our salary up to £5.25 per hour.
We know that the money has to come from somewhere, but surely the shambles that our railways have become is proof enough that cost cutting just does not pay.
PATRICIA LAIDLER,
Worcester.
