ALL those cans of fizzy drink this summer could go towards a good cause.

St John Ambulance in Droitwich and Pershore are collecting used aluminium cans to raise money for new ambulances.

The brigade has teamed up with the Aluminium Packaging recycling Organisation (Alupro) and is taking part in its "Make Things Happen" campaign.

The St John Ambulance campaign, launched yesterday at W Prosser Metal Merchants, Worcester, is being co-ordinated by Kathy Fulloway.

"Aluminium drinks can recycling is a very good source of fundraising for St John," she said.

"We would welcome anyone who can join in our collection."

She said joining Alupro's "Make Things Happen" campaign would mean reaching the fundraising target much sooner. Anyone who wants to help can drop used cans off at The Old Library, in Droitwich, on Mondays, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm, or St Agathas Hall, Pershore, on Tuesdays between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

For more information, phone Kathy Fulloway on 07751 352287.
