TABLE-topping Worcestershire Royals aim to hit back from their damaging defeat against title rivals Glamorgan Dragons when they entertain basement club Nottinghamshire Outlaws in a floodlit Norwich Union League Division One clash at New Road tomorrow (4.10pm).

The County will be unchanged from the side which lost by 22 runs to fourth in the table Glamorgan under the Duckworth-Lewis method on Sunday when newcomer Shane Lee made his debut.

It trimmed their lead at the top of the table to four points.

Worcestershire's Director of Cricket Tom Moody said: "It's a very big game for us tomorrow. At this stage in the season it's important we string together a couple of wins and hope other sides lose."

Last year Worcestershire played Durham in a floodlit match at New Road and won by seven wickets.

Moody said: "The fact it was a day-night game had no bearing at all because we chased a big total and we chased it down very well.

"Obviously we don't want to be subjected to anything that's too one-sided. But I'm sure, given the way we are playing and the way the wickets are now being prepared for day-night games, that it's going to be an even contest."

Skipper Graeme Hick said: "Floodlit games we have had at New Road over the last few years have all been good matches. I hope we have another one of those and the right result for us."

The County have already beaten Notts this term when they returned from Trent Bridge with an eight wicket win in the fourth round of the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. Hick and Vikram Solanki both scored centuries.

Meanwhile, Ben Smith has won the July Hewett Recruitment Player of the Month Award after a string of impressive performances, particularly in one-day cricket.

In four limited-over matches last month he scored 295 runs without losing his wicket once.

In addition he scored two centuries in the Frizzell County Championship ag-ainst Middlesex and Northamptonshire and a total of 304 runs at an average of 60.80. His free-scoring run earned him the award just ahead of Vikram Solanki and Gareth Batty who both had excellent months.

Kabir Ali is still out in front in the overall table for the Hewett Recruitment Player of the Year Award which will be presented at the inaugural annual awards dinner on Thursday, September 26.

The current leaders are: Kabir Ali 48, Ben Smith 39, Vikram Solanki 38, David Leatherdale 25, Graeme Hick 24, Gareth Batty 24, Andy Bichel 23.

Worcestershire: Peters, Solanki, Hick, Smith, Lee, Leatherdale, Batty, Rhodes, Kabir Ali, Lampitt, Mason. 12th man: Rawnsley.
