TWO Worcestershire rowers have ended a successful season with selection to the Wales International Senior rowing team for the forthcoming Home International Regatta in Strathclyde.
Evesham Rowing Club member Crystal Mcleod and former Royal Grammar School, Worcester, captain Rob Inett will be competing for Wales against teams from Scotland, Ireland and England just two weeks before the Commonwealth Rowing Championships take place at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham.
Eighteen-year-old Mcleod has already represented Great Britain Juniors at the Couple de la Jeunesse last summer, as well as competing at the world indoor championships in Boston, USA, as part of the official GB squad in March of this year.
She will be competing in te women's double scull, while 20-year-old Inett will form part of the men's quadruple scull with oarsmen taken from Grosvenor and Royal Chester rowing clubs.
Both youngsters have also been selected to compete in their respective single sculling events, thus confirming the high regard that the Welsh selectors hold them in.
Inett previously paired with Evesham's James Fletcher at Great Britain junior trials while at RGS, and has rowed as the Welsh heavyweight U23 single sculler in international regattas thr-oughout the 2002 season.
The Home International series will feature many of the country's top crews since it is the last regatta before the Commonwealth championship in August.
