The Gainsborough House Hotel, in Bewdley Hill, Kidderminster, has been sold for an undisclosed sum.

Owner Tim Wedgwood, who bought the hotel from Lyric Hotels two-and-a-half years ago, has built the business up and is now looking for a new project. He was previously the owner of the St Andrews House Hotel, in Droitwich.

The new owners of the three-star Gainsborough House Hotel, which is part of a Georgian listed building, are Mr and Mrs Jim Snellgrove and Mr and Mrs Tony Murphy, from Bromsgrove.

They were previously care home operators and this is their first venture into the hotel trade.

The Gainsborough House Hotel has 44 bedrooms, as well as conference facilities

The sale was conducted by the Birmingham office of international hotel agents, Christie & Co.

"We were delighted to source a buyer for our client on a confidential basis, without the need to place the hotel on the open market," said Jonathan Irwin, associate director of Christie & Co.

"We wish the new owners every success with their new business venture."
