CALLOW Hill speedster Jason Wilshaw has the chance to win the 2002 Race of the Year after announcing - again - he will retire at the end of the season.

Wilshaw holds a 70 point lead in the Classics Club Post Classics Series but says he is not resting on his laurels ahead of round ten at Croft on Saturday.

There is just one points scoring race on Saturday, where Wilshaw is hoping to extend his lead on nearest rival Paul Allender.

And Sunday is the Race of the Year, an event Wilshaw has never won.

The reigning champion's best finish was second at Cadwell Parl last year, behind arch rival Mark Carkeek.

But Carkeek's season is over after he suffered pelvic damage from a crash at Rockingham in the last round and Wilshaw is quietly confident.
