GREENLANDS jetskiier Andy Rich won the penultimate round of the British Jetski Summer Championship to set up a dramatic last day against his arch rival.

Rich went into the Albert Dock event, trailing series leader Ray Purkiss by 20.5 points and saw the veteran rider win a shortened first moto after six laps.

Purkiss, whose souped-up machine has seen him top the table, would have all but sealed the summer title by winning the round but his teenage nemesis had other ideas and went on to storm an eight lap second moto by 25 seconds.

And with Purkiss managing only fourth place, he finished third overall and saw Rich reduce his championship lead to just 8.5 points with the final round at the Tees Barrage, Stockton-on-Tees on Saturday, August 25.

Rich needs to finish at least two places ahead of Purkiss in the points scoring if he is to realise his dream of a Winter/Summer Series double.
