A 20-year-old woman was knocked unconscious and had her purse stolen following an assault outside Chicago Rock Cafe in the town centre on Sunday.
Police believe there was an altercation between the woman and a man outside the Unicorn Hill pub between 12.30-1am.
Words were exchanged and there was a scuffle before the woman fell to floor and was knocked unconscious for a short time.
When the woman regained consciousness, she discovered her purse was missing and believed it had been stolen.
The man was described as Asian, aged 21-25, about 5ft 8ins tall with black hair which was curly at the front.
He had a mole on his face and was wearing a blue and white checked shirt and black trousers.
The woman went to the Alexandra Hospital the following day where she was treated and discharged.
