A NEW pregnancy counselling service based in Redditch has already been used by 60 teenagers under 18, the Advertiser can reveal.

The service, based at the Arrowside Unit on the site of the Alexandra Hospital, was set up 12 months ago to help give women a choice on whether to keep their baby or terminate the pregnancy.

Before it was set up, young girls would have had to go to Worcester or Birmingham for help and teenage pregnancy co-ordinator Sheena Stewart said the aim was to make sure girls were seen quickly.

Latest statistics revealed 37 per cent of pregnancies among girls under 18s ended in termination compared to the national average of 43 per cent.
