PHIL Mullen is backing former Worcester City midfielder Darren Bullock to put Evesham United on track in the coming season.

The Robins boss has snapped up the combative 33-year-old who was sacked by John Barton last season after two red cards in six games.

But Mullen is not worried about Bullock's reputation for on field fireworks and is instead keen to dwell on his undoubted ability which saw Football League clubs shell out more than £650,000 for him during spells at Huddersfield, Swindon Town and Bury.

"If you worried about everybody's disciplinary record you would never get anywhere and I am just pleased to get him on board," said Mullen.

"I've known him for a long time and he is quality.

"He will be good for us and hopefully bring a lot of enthusiasm for the game and he can really play as well.

"Darren is good in possession and hopefully can get us on track."

Mullen has also signed Grant Pinkney, who was on trial at St George's Lane during pre-season, after being recommended by former City favourite Phil Stant.

"Grant is a local lad and a useful addition to our squad," added Mullen.
