THE legendary Danny La Rue will be performing in Redditch this autumn as part of the Palace Theatre's jam-packed new programme which kicks off later this month.

A hilarious new show for children starring the madcap Bananas in Pyjamas is first on the bill, followed in September by Puccini's La Boheme, possibly the most popular opera of all time, Black Country Night Out, a two-hour show packed with music and comedy and Sheila Steafel in Solos.

Also in September is a tribute to the king of rock 'n' roll in The Elvis Collection, which recreates the magic from Elvis Presley's early country days of That's Alright Mama through smouldering ballads like The Wonder of You to the wild rock 'n' roll era of Jailhouse Rock.

There will also be a non-stop party when Livin' la Vida Loca comes to town, a tribute to Ricky Martin which also featured the Latino Rhythm Band and Chippendale-esque dancers the Fantasy Boys.

And the best soul and blues classics will be featured when Sweet Home Chicago performs music from The Blues Brothers.

Danny La Rue stars in The Good Olde Days Music Hall alongside a cast of music hall favourites including comedy stars The Patton Brothers, David and Pauline Conway and Tony Leyton.

September is rounded off with Redditch Amateur Theatre Society's production of Alan Ayckbourn's Bedroom Farce.

Tickets are available from the box office on 65203.
