THE Palace Theatre held taster sessions for young people in drama, dance, make-up and circus skills.

The sessions also involved working with Worcester Arts Workshop members to create giant fish lanterns made from dried willow branches and tissue.

Youngsters aged nine to 14 learned new skills from walking the tightrope, juggling, acting, plate spinning, willow craft and the art of make-up from a host of expert teachers.

The giant fish lanterns will be featured in a light festival at Forge Mill Needle Museum on Friday, September 6.

A theatre spokesman said: "Any young people aged 13 to 18 who are interested in making lanterns, banners or flags for this event can attend the week-long course being run by the Worcester Arts Workshop at Forge Mill Museum from Monday, August 12 to Friday, August 16."

To book, call 62509 from 11am-5pm Monday to Friday or 2-5pm Saturday and Sunday.
