INSPIRED by the spooky stories from Bromsgrove and Droitwich folk, a prolific local author has written her ninth book on things that go bump in the night.

Haunted Holidays is the eagerly awaited new offering by Anne Bradford, featuring tales of paranormal activity across the world, from Bournville to Barcelona.

Many of the stories are eyewitness accounts from people in Bromsgrove and Redditch who believe they have seen ghosts.

The Redditch writer first became interested in the supernatural after reading a collection of Victorian ghost stories in her town library, in 1992.

It was one of the librarians who encouraged her to compile a book of local ghost stories and ten years later she is seeing her name in print for the ninth time.

However, her latest book is slightly different with tales from around the world - but she hopes it will be just as successful.

The book also includes editorial by David Taylor, chairman of Parasearch, who offers expert analysis of the stories.

Anne, a former secretary and teacher, now gives lectures on her work to many different groups of people across Worcestershire, including the Women's Institute and Rotary clubs.

When the Advertiser/Messenger asked her if she believed in ghosts, she said: "Well, I now have a catalogue of more than 800 stories, all those people can't be wrong!"

She is currently working on a book about old Redditch and is looking for older residents past and present to come forward with their interesting tales.

But, for supernatural fans, Anne has another 40 stories ready for print.

Haunted Holidays is available from M and D Books in Droitwich and all other good bookstores in the area.
