DRIVERS in Bromsgrove have been invited back to the classroom to boost their motoring skills. Redditch police are arranging a six-week course aimed at providing the theory to the advanced driver training qualification, which starts tomorrow (Thursday).

The classroom sessions will be taken by PC Brian Seabourne, the division's traffic management officer, who said: "We have run these sessions in the past and they have been very successful.

"The course will provide people with the theory aspect which is needed to pass the advanced driver training.

"I shall be explaining how advanced drivers operate, why and what is needed to be an advanced driver.

"By passing the advanced driver training, people will obviously improve their driver safety, but it can also lead to lower insurance costs.

"The only thing people need is to, obviously, be a full license holder and bring with them a copy of the Highway Code or Road Craft, which is a police theory driving booklet.

"This course is recognised by the Institute of Advanced Motorists and we have had success with car and HGV drivers and motorcyclists."

The course is due to run on Thursdays, between 7pm and 9pm, with the last session on September 12.

"I would ask that anyone who wishes to attend the course calls me on 01527 584888 and lets me know that they will be attending as places are limited," warned PC Seabourne.
