STAFF at Webb's of Wychbold garden centre are celebrating this week after yet another award for excellence was added to their already impressive collection.

The Worcester Road centre has won the Midland's regional competition for the coveted Ruxley Rose award for the best conservatory and houseplant area in Britain.

"I'm over the moon," said Pete Brooks, who designs the company's displays.

"It's a biennial award and last time we went on to win the UK national title. They say lightning never strikes twice but this time we are hoping to prove them wrong.

"The final judging date is only known to the judges, so every day we have to make sure that we are going to give them a welcome surprise."

The judges singled out Webbs for plant quality and value, and for originality and a sense of fun.

They were particularly impressed by the bright coloured combination of air plants with air beds, and with the cool blues and whites of plants in a bathroom.

They also loved the cacti and noted it the best display they had ever seen in a garden centre.
