A WASHED-out weekend left Studley frustrated and played into the hands of title rivals Kings Heath.

The Washford Fields side stayed second in the Division Two East table despite losing their match against sixth placed Old Edwardians without a ball being bowled.

Heath were the side left with a blank weekend because of the withdrawal of the now-defunct Solihull Municipal but the wet weather deprived all the other title contenders of the chance to take advantage and pull away from them.

Because there was no play, Studley banked only four league points to widen the gap on league leaders Water Orton to five points.

The table-toppers managed to reach 194 for eight before their match at Hampton-in-Arden was abandoned and took six points out of the fixture.

The Studley washout and a similar fate for Walmley has dented the title aspirations of both sides to leave the top three within 18 points of one another.

Mark Lewis' side have the chance to undo the weather-enforced disappointment on Saturday when they entertain third-placed Kings Heath (12.30pm start).
