ASTWOOD Bank were left kicking their heels in frustration at the weekend after a promising start in their relegation battle against Hagley was undone by the weather.

Alex Robinson's side raced to 63-2 against a side two places above them in Division One of the Worcestershire County League.

Bank had the chance to clamber out of the relegation zone at the expense of a Chaddesley Corbett side being beaten by eight wickets at home to Pershore but their chances were washed away by the rain and they had to settle for eight league points.

With Chaddesley pocketing a sole point, the Sambourne Lane outfit cut the gap on safety to just 11 points but face a stiff test at fourth placed Bromyard on Saturday (1.30pm start).

And to deepen Robinson's worries, bottom of the table Romsley and Hunnington recorded a winning draw against the same opposition and sit eight points behind the Bank.
