POOR weather denied Barnt Green CC First XI the chance to cut Himley's lead at the top of the Birmingham Premier League last Saturday.

Lyndon Jones' side did manage an away winning draw and collected eight points.

With Himley on 148-6 and only nine overs left to bat, the rain came to disrupt Barnt Green's stranglehold on the game.

When the game resumed, the Himley batsmen thrashed effectively to take the score to 220-7.

But Barnt Green's revised target for a winning draw of 105 from 26 overs was duly reached.

Jones' side narrowly missed out on the extra bonus point by finishing on 119-4.

Matt Dallaway was the hero with a well paced 50 not out and he received fine support from Richard Illingworth (20) and Catterrall (25).

Captain Jones was upbeat about the result.

He said: "We did what we had to do in order to get a positive result.

"I thought Himley batted well to get up to 220 but we were never in danger of not getting the winning draw.

"It's a pity we couldn't get more points to put more pressure on the teams above but we are timing our run of good form pretty well."
