HEAVY rain ruined Bromsgrove CC First XI's clash with Birmingham division one table toppers Shrewsbury last Saturday.
Batting first, an electric start from Zimbabwean Ross Liddell (20) and Nick Davies (21) put the Boars on their way but they slipped to just 128 all out.
The visitors' Australian Smart took 5-33 as he extracted bounce and movement from the damp wicket.
No sooner had Bromsgrove been bowled out, the first heavy down pour came. Two hours of solid rain postponed the Shrewsbury innings until the evening.
The loss of two early wickets opened the game up but a 44 run partnership from Davies (28no) and Anders (28) put the league leaders in the driving seat.
Then, just as they looked set for victory, a couple more wickets fell before the heavens opened and washed out the remainder of play.
Nick Husbands side travel to Kenilworth this Saturday.
