AVONCROFT CC First XI cruised to an eight-wicket victory at Old Halesonians to keep their Worcestershire County League division four promotion ambitions alive.
Croft bowled their hosts out for 52 runs and reached their target in within ten overs to escape the rain.
Croft's opening bowlers, Wayne Pugh and David James, did most of the damage early on as they removed all hope their hosts had of posting a competitive total.
James took 2-9 from eight overs but Pugh was the star of the show, taking 5-31 in an explosive 11 over spell.
Dangerous
Pugh's first five-wicket haul for the club was backed up by another good spell from youngster Adam Rodway (2-5) and a wicket for Spencer George.
The visitor's only dangerous opponent looked to be the weather so Paul Athey's side were determined not to waste any time reaching their target.
Athey (20) and Rich Sinclair gave Croft the brisk start they needed before passing the reins over to James (13 not out) and Jon Bird, who finished the job in the tenth over of the innings.
