AVONCROFT CC's U14s continued their magnificent season by qualifying for the final of the county cup against Alvechurch with a 23-run home victory over local rivals Belbroughton.

Belbroughton started the brighter, taking two important wickets before Andy Nicol (12) and Scott Devlin (10) steadied the ship.

The final run push was built around a solid innings of 20 from Sam Tedstone as Avoncroft posted 84-8 from their 20 overs.

In reply, the visitors reached 24 before James Child made the breakthrough Croft needed.

With Belbroughton still on top, it was the introduction of Croft's spinners, Nicol and Tedstone, who turned the game on its head.

Belbroughton had no answer to the spinners, collapsing to 30-6 with Tedstone taking 3-10 and Nicol 2-9.

From that point, Avoncroft closed out the game, with Gareth Walford picking up three late wickets to leave Belbroughton on 61-9.
