REDDITCH carnival as generations of families remember it may have ended but the committee is determined September 14 will be a great day.
There are fears the streets will never again be brightened by the colour of the procession and charities will no longer receive financial support.
Redditch last saw a procession in 1999 and committee chairman Liz Johnson said this may have been the final one.
As people won't be drawn to the procession, attendance will be down meaning less money raised.
But there will still be fun and games this year, including clowns and balloon modellers, fun fair rides and a superb children's fancy dress competition.
Last year the prize was a holiday to Disneyland, Paris, courtesy of Tom Wilson's Fun Fair and this year an equally exciting prize will be on offer.
Costumes must be homemade and details will be published nearer the time.
This year's carnival is being sponsored by the Redditch Advertiser and the quest to find Miss Redditch will be held the week before the big day.
There will also be the third annual carnival talent contest, also sponsored by the Advertiser.
