FIRE safety was highlighted through competitions and prize draws during an open day at Redditch fire station.
Scores of youngsters took part in a quiz focused on smoke alarm positioning and escape plans.
The winners were presented with smoke detectors last week.
And a draw to win a deep fat fryer was won by Redditch woman Kerrie Daly.
Station officer Pete Baker said a very high percentage of domestic fires started in the kitchen.
