A ROW of crime-hit shops in Kidderminster is to benefit from increased security measures, the Home Office has confirmed.
Six shops in Severn Grove will be covered by closed circuit television under the second-year allocation of cash totalling £18,000 from the Treasury's Capital Modernisation Fund.
The premises have already received £27,460, for toughened glass, steel shutters, alarms and lighting to be installed.
The parade is in the Oldington and Foley Park ward which is the most deprived area of Worcestershire and in the top 10 per cent of the most deprived areas in the country according to the Home Office.
The bid for funding was made by Wyre Forest Community Safety Partnership which includes the police, Wyre Forest District Council and Wyre Forest Community Housing, which carried out the initial work.
