KIDDERMINSTER Harriers chair-man Colin Youngjohns has revealed that financial contraints at Aggborough will result in a smaller playing budget next season.

Harriers are having to tighten their belt following the recent resignation of millionaire Lionel Newton as chairman.

He blamed lack of support through the turnstiles and from local businesses.

The cash contraints will also dictate the calibre of manager they target to take over from Jan Molby.

Since the job was advertised Harriers have received more than 20 applications which includes former League players and coaches from higher levels.

Youngjohns said: "We have got to cut our cloth accordingly. There will be less money than last year and we will have to make cuts. That might prove to be a disincentive for some people but if that's the case they wouldn't be right for the job. We need a lean, hungry manager."

Youngjohns admitted that the list of applicants is 'varied and interesting' but the club are not being rushed into making an appointment.

Meanwhile, Kidderminster's Danish striker Bo Henriksen is to have summer surgery on a long-standing groin injury.

The 27-year-old is expected to have the operation in the next few weeks but will recover in time for the start of pre-season.

Long-term casualty Mark Blake is well on the road to recovery following the operation he underwent on an Achilles tendon that he tore at the beginning of February.
